Your dog could become part of the largest study ever on aging in canines.

Researchers with the “Dog Aging Project” are hoping to study a group of 10,000 dogs over the course of ten years to see whether they can improve the life expectancy of canines and improve their overall quality of life.

Since dogs get the same diseases of humans as they age, the researchers hope the information they learn can eventually be applied to humans as well.

Researchers are accepting applications now.

Dogs from all fifty states and of all ages, sizes, breeds and levels of health can apply.

Dogs enrolled in the study will continue to live and play in their home environments but some dogs may also be asked to visit a vet specialist for certain tests.

Owners can nominate their dog and learn more about the project by visiting dogagingproject.org.

The submission process takes about ten minutes and generally consists of questions about your canine to help researchers learn whether he or she is right for the project.
