We have a sad update to a story we brought you last week.

Remember this video?

An Australian grandmother braved flames to rescue an adorable koala that got stranded in a bushfire.

She named him “Lewis” after one of her grandchildren.

The video went viral on social media.

Sadly caretakers say they had to make the decision to euthanize Lewis because the burns he sustained were too extensive and too painful for him to carry on.

Lewis was estimated to be about 14 years old.

The blazes in Australia have been devastating to the region’s koala population.

Animal experts believe more than 350 koalas are feared to been killed by the fires.
