The privacy of your own home might not be as private as you think.

A rash of households have recently fallen victim to their Ring security system break-ins.

A strangers voice accessed a Virginia family’s Ring home safety system and started speaking to the family’s nanny who came downstairs after hearing the voice.

The hacker’s voice came from one of the Ring cameras inside the house.

Other households around the country had their Ring systems hacked as well, including one in Washington State where a hacker’s voice told a child he was Santa Claus and wanted to be best friends.

The company recently issued a statement saying that they’ve investigated the issue and “have no evidence of an unauthorized intrusion or compromise of Ring’s systems or network.”

Ring also advises its users to enable two factor authentication, add shared users and use different and strong passwords.

Ring’s statement also said it will keep introducing additional safety features.
