The coronavirus’ grip on the US just keeps getting tighter.

On Tuesday at least 163 COVID-19 related deaths were reported, setting a grim record for the US.

Experts fear the US could become the next epicenter of the virus as cases soar past 50,000 nationwide.

More than half of those cases are in New York City.

The White House’s coronavirus response coordinator said anyone who has recently left New York should self-quarantine for 14 days.

In California the governor says half of those that tested positive in the state are 18 to 49 years old and that the “disease impacts everybody.”

In Florida and Georgia cases have risen by 20 percent.

As leaders fight for equipment and other help, doctors, nurses and caregivers are working on those who’ve contracted the virus.

Some healthcare workers fear of contracting the virus because they are being asked to work without proper protection, risking infection to themselves and their families.

Meanwhile President Trump says he’d like to see restrictions on residents lifted by Easter.

But health officials in his administration believe that date is too soon to contain the spread of the virus.
