Here’s a recap of the highlights from the second night of the Republican National Convention.

First Lady Melania Trump and the nation’s top diplomat were among those making the case for another term for President Trump Tuesday.

Melania Trump’s speech was part of a convention outreach to women voters, particularly in suburban swing districts.

The first lady acknowledged the threat of the coronavirus and the sacrifices it required.

The president’s daughter Tiffany Trump also spoke, making an appeal to young voters.

During her speech she said her father has made her believe that “AQmerica can truly be great again.”

President Trump again appeared multiple times including presiding over a naturalization ceremony.

He also announced the pardon of Jon Ponder, a convicted bank robber who now works to help the formerly incarcerated reintergrate into society.

Another headliner was Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who touted Trump’s foreign policy record in remarks taped in Jerusalem.

During his speech he criticized China and called Covid-19 the “China virus.”

Pompeo’s speech has drawn scrutiny and criticism for it is highly unusual for secretaries of state to engage in partisan politics.

The action has prompted a House Democrat to look into whether he violated the Hatch act, which prevents federal employees from engaging in partisan politics while on duty.
