Purdue Pharma has filed for bankruptcy.

The drug company has been accused of fueling the opioid crisis.

Officials with the company filed for bankruptcy as a method for settling litigation with numerous state and government.

Purdue Pharma filing for bankruptcy will help facilitate an orderly and fair resolution of all claims against the company.

The Sackler family, Pharma’s owner, says they are working toward a global resolution for the matter.

They also offered nearly $5 billion and part of future revenue from its drug sales to settle claims.
