Former NFL player’s son arrested in parent’s death (8.25.19)
Twenty-two-year-old Dylan John Bennett was arrested Saturday night in connection with the killing of his parents, former NFL player Barry Bennett and his wife Carol Bennett.
They were found shot to death in their home in Long Praire, Minnesota.
Authorities received a 911 call from a family friend who went to the home after Barry Bennett did not return the friend’s texts or phone calls.
Investigators also discovered Dylan Bennett had bought an airline ticket to Cancun, Mexico earlier this week.
They tracked his cell phone, credit card and ATM activity in Cancun and alerted Mexican authorities to his location.
The FBI will now transport Bennett back to Minnesota where he will face 2 counts of second-degree murder without premeditation.
