On Monday (Yesterday) former national security adviser John Bolton said he will testify at President Trump’s impeachment trial subpoenaed by the Senate.

Bolton was one of the few people in the room when Trump made the July phone call between Ukraine’s president that prompted the impeachment inquiry.

House and Senate Democrats are still pushing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to subpoena high-profile witnesses.

And Bolton’s announcement could push McConnell to call for witness testimony during the trial, which is something he has spoken out against.

Democrats would need four Republicans to side with them to get the trial they want, including witnesses and documents.

While Democrats are eyeing a group of potential GOP converts to help their cause, no Republicans at this point have expressed willingness to go that route.
