30-year-old physician assistant Nathaniel Moore is a recent graduate of a MBA at the University of Vermont.
Moore is among thousands of graduates who participated in a virtual ceremony this year due to COVID-19.
Instead of letting his graduation gown go to waste, he decided to launch “Gowns4Good” an initiative that gathers and repurposes graduation gowns as personal protective equipment (PPE).
In just over a month Moore has collected over 10,000 gowns.
Around the world hospitals and medical centers are struggling with a shortage of PPE.
As a physician assistant Moore treats COVID-19 patients and says he has seen the supply shortage firsthand.
He says graduation gowns are more effective than other PPE alternatives giving their length, sleeves and easy zippered access.
Moore says he knows it’s hard for people to part ways with their gowns.
But he says the immediate impact donating a gown can have on someone’s life is better than it collecting dust in your closet.
