The large Independence Day celebrations people are used to with showstopping fireworks displays are on hold this year in many places due to coronavirus.
That means many people might be tempted to create smaller fireworks shows of their own.
And that has experts worried.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), about 10,000 people were treated for fireworks related injuries in 2019.
73% of those occurred around 4 July.
Handheld sparklers were the number one item behind those accidents.
That’s why the CPSC wants to remind us all on how to safely handle these potentially dangerous items.
Find out what’s legal in your area to use.
Never allow children to ignite or handle these items.
Have a bucket of water or hose nearby just in case things go awry.
Light fireworks one at a time then back away quickly.
Never try to light or re-light malfunctioning fireworks.
Never point fireworks at people.
And dowse fireworks in water before disposing of them.
These tips can help ensure you have a fun and safe time this holiday weekend.

Police say a group of people were lighting illegal fireworks in an alley.
The man on the left doesn’t seem to notice a lit shell flies into his home’s window.
Shortly thereafter a fire slowly starts to grow inside the house.
When they finally notice and began trying to contain the fire, it’s too late.
Local reports say the blaze destroyed part of the house and damaged another home.
The man who set off the fireworks is now facing arson charges.
The lesson here is if you gonna use illegal fireworks, don’t!
